Understanding The Early Signs Of Pregnancy And Implantation Bleeding

The journey of motherhood is one of the finest journeys which every woman craves for and this journey varies for every woman. There are some women who might experience light bleeding which could be a sign of pregnancy, a sign of period or something else. But let’s get a clarity about some women who do experience implantation bleeding during early pregnancy especially those who are really trying hard and actively trying to get pregnant.

If we analyze the first two weeks between the ovulation and a positive home pregnancy test normally seems a much longer and most women spend this period by becoming hyper-aware of every ache, twinge, and wondering whether it’s an early sign of pregnancy. There are many women who go on to have healthy, normal pregnancies and have what’s called implantation bleeding. This is generally noticed around the time when their embryo sticks itself into the side of the uterus.

What Is Implantation Bleeding And When It Occurs?

Following ovulation and at the time when the egg is strongly fertilized by a sperm, the embryo starts separating and developing, sending out signs to a woman’s body to get fit for pregnancy. Now all this starts and could be noticed with the walls of the uterus also termed as the endometrium which starts to alter. They’ve previously been thickening during the menstrual cycle, but now they will need to grow and mature yet more to defend and support an embryo for nine months.

While it is hard to tell, but starting from six to twelve days post fertilization, the quickly-growing egg has passed down from the Fallopian tubes to the uterus. Now it needs some more nutrients, and the endometrium has filled in enough to support the embryo. In this time, the embryo fastens itself to the endometrium, where it becomes dependent on a mother’s body for the nutrients and oxygen. During the journey of the embryo into the uterus, it sometimes lets little blood vessels to burst which leads to Implantation bleeding.

This does not induce any problems and the endometrium regain it’s control quickly but some women do encounter light bleeding, from pinkish or red to brown discharge. This is called implantation bleeding and it generally arrives earlier than the regular expected monthly flow i.e. it is 10 days after conception.

How To Conclude That Its Implantation Bleeding And Not The Regular Period?

On various studies and analysis conducted it was finally deduced that it can be dangerous to know whether moderate bleeding is an early sign of pregnancy or just normal spotting driving up to your period. And unfortunately, there’s no conclusive way to find out.

The safest and the most reliable method are to know whether you’re pregnant or not is to pause a few more days and take a pregnancy test. Nearly one-third of women who proclaim having undergone implantation bleeding often define it as discrete from their usual premenstrual spotting. Most of them say that the blood is either darker or not as red compared with normal period blood whereas others have moderate cramping at the same time as the spotting.
